Becky Freeman Anderson’s great grandfather, John Wesley Freeman, was the original owner of the Freeman Family Farm. Becky grew up on the farm, along with her sister Mary, and two brothers, Franklin and Glenn. She and her husband Danny were married on April 29, 1973 and have two sons, Benjamin Daniel and William Garrett. Danny owns a diversified trucking business and he and Garrett run a commercial cattle operation. Following in the footsteps of her father, M.F., who was a substitute rural mail carrier, Becky was the Dover, GA postmaster for 22 years before retiring in July 2012.
Their eldest son, Benji, was born on December 10, 1976, followed by the birth of his brother, Garrett, on July 10, 1980. Benji and Garrett grew up with a love for farming and raising livestock. At an early age, they learned to drive tractors, playing an intricate role in their father’s farming operation. It was no surprise that both were active in 4-H and FFA, where they showed livestock, competed on Livestock Judging teams, and participated in 4-H project achievement on the state level. As an FFA project in high school, they obtained youth loans to purchase tractors and equipment in order to get a head start on their farming careers.
Benji is currently employed by the Georgia Forestry Commission in the Screven County unit, where he has worked since 1999. In 2003, he and Garrett formed Anderson Brothers Farms, a custom harvesting and hay baling operation. On January 28, 2011 Benji and Ashley went on a blind date, and on March 16, 2013 they were married. Ashley is a St. Simmons Island native and moved to Statesboro in early January of 2011. Ashley is the Administrative/Front End Manager at Forest Heights Pharmacy. Benji and Ashley reside on the farm and in August 2017 welcomed their first child, a baby girl, Adler Loren Anderson.
Garrett graduated in 2000 from Southwest Georgia Technical College with a degree in Agricultural Technology. In 1999, he began working with Blanchard Equipment Company before joining Georgia Forestry Commission in the Bulloch County unit in 2004. After 5 years of dating, Garrett and his wife Haley were married on June 7, 2008. Haley graduated in 2009 from South University School of Pharmacy with a Doctorate in Pharmacy and is currently the Director of Pharmacy/Staff Pharmacist at Jenkins County Medical Center. After years of infertility and countless fertility treatments, the Lord answered their prayers and blessed them with their first child, a son, William Slade Anderson, on September 7, 2013. After undergoing another round of IVF, Haley became pregnant with twin girls the summer of 2015. Midway through her pregnancy, Haley experienced complications and went into preterm labor. On November 6, 2015 they welcomed their first daughter, Hendleigh Grace Anderson, who passed away into the arms of Jesus two hours after birth. Early Christmas morning, exactly 7 weeks after Hendleigh’s birth, her twin sister Kinsleigh Grace Anderson was born at 27 weeks gestation. After spending 71 days in Memorial University Medical Center’s NICU, Kinsleigh was able to join her big brother at home on the farm. On February 3, 2018 Garrett and Haley welcomed their surprise miracle daughter, Leyton Brooke Anderson.
